In your Eyes

In my eyes,

I see nothing but regret,

For the last two months of your life,

I was gone,

I left you,

Abandoned you,

It pierces my heart,

Shallows my chest,

Makes me writhe thinking

I was doing my best,

But in your eyes,

Was I following my dreams?

Providing for you by any means,

Could you see that not a moment passed

That I didn’t wish you in my arms,

Could you feel the void inside me,

Or did I create that darkness

That now brings me to my knees,

I felt you that night,

Our final embrace,

Our last goodbye,

Although I can’t hold your face,

I want you to know how much I try,

I find solace

In your spirit’s inert kindness,

I know your heart is

Incapable of hate,

But for this one,

I will never give myself a break,

I think of you every day,

Blow you a kiss every night,

I see you amongst the stars

Shining the most bright,

And that is always when I know,

We’ll be okay.
