Hi, I’m Alex, an MA student in “Intellectual History and the History of Political Thought” at Queen Mary University London. Previously a graduate with honours from New College of the Humanities (now Northeastern London) in “BSc Politics & IR with Philosophy” and originally hailing from the rolling green lands of Northumbria, Northern England.

Despite my primary academic interests being in areas of religious history and contemporary socio-political/ethical theory both literature and poetry have also always played a key role in both my academic and personal life. Reflected by my current work on a MA thesis to do with the renowned both literary figure and philosopher Iris Murdoch's response to secular modernity, not to mention my long-term personal interest in both the writings and philosophies of such philosophical-literary figures as C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. 

More personally there's nothing I enjoy more than a lovely long walk in the park or catching a drink with friends and some street food with friends or wrapping up with a game/book and a big mug of tea on a cold winter's night. After all, where better than when wrapped up in a warm blanket with a hot chocolate to forget about this increasingly turbulent world of ours and enjoy one of life’s purest pleasures, a good piece of writing?
