AN APOLOGY TO LIFE
An Apology to Life…
I find myself in the heat of summer,
Where the heated floor burns my bare foot.
I yearn for winter, eagerly anticipating the embrace of snowflakes and padded jackets.
Still, so many flaws with winter as the thoughts of flowering blossoms in spring consume my senses.
But here we are still in summer,
Waiting forever for the seasons to change…
An unwanted visit…
Now, I'm labelled with an expiration date,
Time seems to rush at an unrelenting pace.
Desperately trying to hold on to every drop of hours, minutes, seconds.
Wishing, we could go back to wintry wonderland, but spring has already begun to wilt its blossoms…
Wishing again for snowflakes and a padded jacket,
Frozen lakes have begun to water,
Summer is long gone, its warmth a distant memory.
Here we are in spring.
As if the hands of time refuse to slow…
Regrettably, we often live as if time is infinite,
Oblivious to the fact that our days were numbered long before we were born.
Now, it is time to bid farewell, but we grasp at each passing moment,
Like the starved at the sight of their first meal.
I'm sorry, life…
For being so cliche,
I only see your value when I've lost you...
