In Between

The Dream

I am floating in a clear blue ocean,

Waves lift me

I am floating with no commotion,

In tranquility.

Water droplets perk up to kiss my limbs.

I am floating if only I knew how to swim.

The Nightmare

I can feel it in my lungs.

I am drowning in this ocean,

Legs too heavy to float, a chest that isn’t strong enough.

My heart is pounding, and I am drowning in emotions.

In my dreams, I am in flight. 

In my nightmares, I fight. 

Reality

Lies somewhere in-between.
