Can’t Tell Fresh from Rotten or Tomato from To-mah-to

It was all fun & games / they were putting down Dirty Dancing & Titanic with testosterone tipped comparisons / tongue & cheek is all fine when it comes to tastes but rotten tomatoes are way too easily chucked at ‘chick flicks’ / the default viewer doesn’t get to throw big boy tomato tantrums because for once he’s not the target audience / maybe you guys need to meet the female gaze on its own terms & turf.

Pick a Player & a Perspective 

The choice was BATMAN or SUPERMAN / one said: Batman, obviously. He’s wealthy. He could never work again. But he still helps / To myself: move over philanthropy, there’s nothing like splurging on expensive gadgets (trickle-down economics at work they’ll say) to stoke the anger fuelled engine of childhood trauma / another added: Superman is so PC / can’t help but think: sure if you mean Plaid-clad & Corn-fed Middle-America / someone else chimed in: also, Batman is more relatable cause he has no powers / That one’s hard to swallow: sure, if you’re a literalist… it’s not like there’s the dichotomy of the Everyman who’s different because of his innate talents vs Mr silver spoon spelled power / but this is a safe space so I swallow my pro-Superman rant & try not to read between the lines.
