Miranda Creed

Hello! My name is Miranda Creed. I am from Northwest Indiana which is near the Chicago area. This year, I will begin pursuing my Doctor of Psychology degree with the hope of becoming a licensed clinical psychologist. In my free time, I have always loved reading. I grew up adoring classic mysteries like Nancy Drew but over the past few years I have expanded my taste to enjoying a larger variety of genres including more romance and fantasy. However, I still consider The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks as my all-time favorite novel. I believe it is a beautiful reflection on love, loss and forgiveness.

Within the last year, as I transitioned from undergraduate to graduate school, I have truly begun to appreciate the beauty of both reading and writing poetry. As I anxiously awaited the results of my application, I found that I had much more time to myself and started to use poetry as a therapeutic and creative way to process my emotions. With that being said, most of my inspiration comes from the complexity of emotions such as love, anxiety and the human experience overall. I also enjoy weaving nature within these themes.

Other hobbies I enjoy include dancing, trying new coffee shops with my best friend and playing board games with my family. I am an avid Monopoly collector. My most recent purchase was a Coca Cola Opoly from the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta Georgia. I am grateful for the opportunity to join this community as a new poet and hope you enjoy my work!
