Kate Hunter
Hello! I’m Kate, and I recently graduated from the University of York with a BA in English & Related Literature. My dissertation was on Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, but I also wrote on Homer’s Iliad, medieval romances, renaissance drama, modern TV adaptations, fanfiction, and southern gothic plays in my time!
Some of my favourite poets are Homer, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Stevie Smith, and Anne Carson, and some of my favourite novelists are Terry Pratchett, Jane Austen, Kazuo Ishiguro, Tamsyn Muir, and Susanna Clarke. I’ll read pretty much anything, but the genres I’m most interested in are fantasy, literary fiction, historical fiction, and classics. My favourite book is probably Clarke’s Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, which somehow manages to combine all of those genres into one!
I’ve recently started a book blog where I can post my own reviews and articles, after spending a year responsible for the UOY Literature Society’s blog, which was a lot of fun. I’m also really into music (I particularly love Florence + the Machine, Kate Bush, and Paramore), and make some amateur attempts at craft projects and cooking!
