Faye Bailey

Hello Poetry Lighthouse, my name is Faye! I have a degree in political science with international relations and history and am currently a librarian at a high school in London. I really enjoy reading and will happily explore any texts from academic articles to teen fiction. I specifically enjoy historical fiction and stories set around world war two. However, I am partial to a good romance novel or something a bit more magical.

As a children’s librarian, I have been exploring books for younger audiences, most recently finishing Goodnight Mister Tom and The Witcher. My literary guilty pleasure is definitely those which make me feel like I’m back at school, exploring fiction for the first time. One of my all time favourite books is The Outsiders by S.E which is a coming of age novel about a group of boys in 1960s America. A close second is Still Life With Woodpecker by Tom Robbins. It's wacky and funny yet surprisingly deep and philosophical. If you want to know all about the moon and environmental conservation, as told by an exiled princess and an outlaw with a passion for dynamite, it’s the novel for you!

My hobbies include writing my own poetry as well as embroidery. I definitely have a soft spot for the classics as I enjoy museums and have been known to read and analyse Shakespeare's works in my free time.
