Maja Lagerdahl
Hallo,
My name is Maja Lagerdahl and I live in Oslo, Norway. I was born in Norrköping Sweden in 1981. I read a lot as a child, and I started to write in my diary when I was seven years old. I was interested in poetry from an early age, and I wrote a poem which was published in the school’s newspaper when I was in third grade, elementary school. The poem was about a horse named Guss. I remember that I enjoyed rhyming a lot. At high school I took courses in drama and there I was presented to how one can use ones ‘body as a medium of expression. I also chose courses in European Art History and European literature at high school. I was interested in languages and I was focused on improving my Spanish and my English. I liked to read Swedish authors like Selma Lagerlöf and Wilhelm Moberg at the time. My favourite authors are Selma Lagerlöf, Vilhelm Moberg and Mikael Niemi. I also enjoy reading Edgar Allan Poe and Aarto Paasilinna.
I studied at Asker kunstfagskole - an Art School in Asker, Norway - for three years, and I have a Bachelors’ degree in The History of Arts and Culture from University of Oslo. I have painted on a regular basis since 2004 and I have drawn and painted somehow on a regular basis since my years at art school, and my work is somehow mostly based on technique and psychological processes. I work as a host and guide at Trafo Kunsthall – an art gallery in Asker. I aim to finish my master´s degree in the History of Arts at the University of Oslo.
In my spare time I enjoy walking a lot, reading, painting, watching movies and series (lately I was very fond of the series after the writings of Sally Rooney), and also, British culture interests me a lot; it feels somehow exotic. I enjoy spending time with my friends and my family.
